From Cauld Fantasy LandsThe moon bears her sadness as a light upon her breast
Cauld snow freezes my soul on this night
Legends and tales from older days
Of kings, heroes and the animals of myth
Faerie lands and the elven woods
Caught adrift in the wind to grace mine ears from the ancient towns
Names remembered by only bitter airs and warming sun
The howl of my brother nightwolf sings a lament for the stolen heart
Of mother Moon, fairest of all.
For Amanda Todd...Who are we to say you deserve this?
We'll call down fire on all but ourselves
Judgment is easy to pass when the fingers are pointed elsewhere
Sleep dear child
My wings will be warm as you rest
Stretched out like an ocean above you
Hush your cries, your tears will be your vengeance
Yet no one helps
Not one hand is reached out
What love is this? For you I would've crossed oceans
No protector for my victim
My young child the son is fast upon your mourning
Vengeance be His, your enemies hold no sway
I cry for you tonight
But tomorrow may I sing, for justice will be swift and unmerciful
EtiquetteThe way I feel right now
Sitting in the Starbucks alone at about 8 o clock at night, not
something most kids my age are doing. The ones I know are
probably out with their friends, enjoying the first parts of the
weekend, the ones I don't know too well probably getting
wasted or something I don't know. The point is, I'm here on
my own, and this bothers me because I've tried to remedy this
twice with two posts on Facebook, neither one received a
single like or comment (not yet anyway) A girl with short hair
sits adjacent to me, and next to her a larger guy with
headphones, both are on laptops (one is a Mac one is an Acer)
and I'm struck by how potentially awkward this could be. But at
the same time, I'll never know anything about either of them,
what the man is listening to, or what the girl with short hair is
working on as she types away furiously at her keys. Are either
of them in love? Seeing someone? Are they married? Have kids?
Live alone or with their parents even? I'll
Sucks to be SickIt starts with a cough, a sniffle or sneeze
This invisible monster, indifferent to pleas
Will come as a doorknob, a puddle or nail
Before your immune system surely will fail
Once deep inside, it spreads out a lot
Before everyone you love is covered in snot
You cough, and cough, and sniffle and sneeze
And the only thing you want seems to be "Water please?"
If only this sick business was a little issue
You bring to your nose yet another tissue
You blow, and blow, you hack and you feel
"If only this Day-quil stuff would work for real"
You just want to breathe, to sleep or to eat
But you feel sick all over from your head to your feet
In no time at all it's coming is quick
And I think to myself "Man it sucks to be sick."
Father's MelodiesFather's melodies wander down the halls
Father's melodies fought shadows from the walls
A jumping light
A demon trick
Father's melodies felled them quick
Note upon note and soon into scales
Note upon note will soothe all that ails
A moving song
A life prolonged
Note upon note is where I belong
Magic cards in a trickster's hand
Magic cards in a blind bet so grand
A smiling face
Magic cards lost my Heaven's place
Father's melodies fill up my heart
Father's melodies tore me apart
A reborn son
My God has won
Father's melodies like them there are none
EasterRemember what you love,
you with sand in your teeth
and the feral burn of hunger
in your eyes.
God sends his regrets.
He made you grasping and slow,
in a late hour
when the wine washed low.
Remember what you love.
Fall to your knees in the toss
and the swell, quell
the appetite of the cold black sea.
Beg blessings for your home
and the salt-sick trees.
Reach what lies near:
the fat-faced child, the sweet-soft lamb;
tether the tantrum, trickle the blood.
Offer psalms to what is holy,
whisper the name of what you love
as it bobs in the bleak mad sea.
